Naveen Jain was born and raised in India. He earned an undergraduate degree in Engineering at the University of Roorkee and an MBA from St. Xavier’s School of Management. Coming to the United States in 1979 (some sources say that Naveen Jain emigrated to the United States in 1982), Jain eventually found himself working for Microsoft. During those productive 7 years Naveen Jain helped Microsoft build out the MSN Network, which though initially launched to compete with America Online has now evolved into one of the main Web properties competing with Yahoo! and Google as well as Microsoft.

But Naveen Jain moved on in 1996 to found his own company, InfoSpace, which built an information empire by feeding telephone directory and other information to numerous Internet service companies like AOL and the MSN Network. Naveen Jain’s name became synonymous with access to information. After several years Naveen moved on to another area of Web information services.

In January 2003 Naveen Jain launched Intelius, Inc. Unlike Infospace, whose customers were the Internet businesses that consumers relied used, Intelius offers its data directly to the consumer. Naveen Jain has launched an information revolution in personal background checks. Through Intelius, the consumer can browse public records, state records, and – yes – telephone records. Naveen Jain knows where to get the information. People know where to find Naveen Jain’s databases.

Recognized by numerous business organizations for his innovative ideas and hands-on leadership style, Naveen Jain has won the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Award, the Albert Einstein Technology Medal, and other acknowledgements for his achievements.

Business and innovation are not Naveen Jain’s only passions, however. A caring husband and father, he also works with and/or contributes to organizations addressing world hunger, education, and health especially for children. Naveen Jain’s charitable activities and gifts have benefitted CRY India, United Way, Children’s Hospital, and the University of Washington.
